Simple tips on how to be kinder every day

November 13th is almost upon us and with it comes World Kindness Day – a 24-hour celebration of kindness in place to help promote random acts of kindness.

Being kind is something we should all strive to do. From stopping to have a conversation with a neighbor to admiring a colleagues new hairstyle, there are a number of small, almost effortless ways to be kind to those around you. Even just a smile is sometimes all it takes to brighten anothers day.

Buy a loved one a gift just because you can

Why not buy a loved one a bouquet of beautiful flowers for no reason except to show them you care? This random act of kindness is guaranteed to put a smile on anyones face, even if theyre having a bad day!

Leave a note for a friend or family member

Whether you leave a note on the bathroom mirror or on a car window, simply writing a few words on a piece of paper such as you look gorgeous today!or have an amazing dayis a great way to boost someones confidence and ensure their mood is a good one. Giving someone a compliment doesnt take much effort yet it can change a persons entire temperament instantly!

Offer a colleague a lift home

If you see a colleague braving the rain on their way home, stop and offer them a lift. Even if it means going a little out of your way, youll feel much better about yourself after doing a good deed.

Share a kindness quote on social media

Whether its a quote youve created yourself or a renowned saying from a famous author, pin it on Pinterest, post it on Instagram or even print it out and hang posters around the office. This is a sure fire way to spread a few kind words in an instance!

Help a local charity

Whether you actively get involved or donate to a good cause, helping a charity is a great way to show kindness to others less fortunate than you.

Stop and talk to your neighbour

Everybody always seems to be in a rush today! Instead of running to your car, stop and spend a few minutes chatting to your neighbors. Simply asking them their plans for the day, talking about the weather or sharing a joke is a good way to show someone they have your time and attention.

Offer your services

If your mum has been on her feet all day, offer to cook her dinner! Or even better, take her out for a top-notch meal. Alternatively, clean the entire house from top to toe, so that she comes home to a serene, tranquil environment the perfect antidote to a busy day at work. Other ideas include helping a sibling with their homework, assisting your dad to clean the car or even aiding your grandparents to run errands.

And just remember, in a world where we can be anything we want to be, be kind!
